"2nd Naxos Mountain Bike Race

The Naxos Mountain Bike Race will be hosted on Naxos Island on Sunday, October 26, 2014, for the second year running.

The location of the race – in the heart of Naxos' countryside known as the Tragea valley – is an area of rare natural beauty with one of Greece's largest collections of Byzantine churches.

The technically challenging 22km route for adults goes through some of the island's most significant ancient and Byzantine monuments and sites. Participants will start racing from the historically significant village of Sagri (11km from Chora of Naxos), they will pass through beautiful landscapes and encounter picturesque villages and sightseeing highlights such as the magnificent ancient Temple of Demeter (6th century B.C.) and the 17th century Timios Stavros monastery also known as the Bazeos Tower.

The race also includes a separate category for teenagers (12 to 17 years old); an easier 9.5km route that shares the starting point and time with the adult race.

Register until October 24 and enjoy a race at Naxos' majestic landscape which you will never forget!
